The Ups and the Downs...

So, Thanks so much for all the extra prayers this morning, we really had a rough go of it.

Max's mood did not improve much after the dialysis was over. He really was irritable for the majority of the day. Then, around 4, while the IV nurses were redoing the tape on his IV he hit another low point. We had to sedate him again. The meds could not kick in fast enough! (My mother-in-law Mollie and I wanted to have some too!)

After that dose, two of his dear friends, Domonique and Angel came to visit. They saw nothing of the crankiness I had witnessed all day, they only got the happy, sweet Max I knew was in there somewhere. He decided to work on the painting that he had started with his child life specialist, and then even to do another painting. He ate 2 strawberries and 2 grapes, the first he's had in a week (Thanks to an edible arrangement sent from cousins in Texas) and drank more in that two hours than he had in the rest of the day all together. (He still only finished the day with around 11oz of oral fluids)

My favorite moment of the day (other than the eating and the painting which were very happy moments!) was when the nurse came in with his Blood pressure meds which is supposed to take orally. He was tired and trying to go to sleep. I explained that he needed to take these meds first and he said "just tell them to put it in that flat thing that goes into my blood"! He was talking about his IV! I could hardly contain myself. The nurses even laughed. His mind is still sharp!

It is amazing that such a hard day overall has such good memories! THANK YOU JESUS!

Dearest Max, You don't know me, but I'm one of your Aunts. It makes us sad to think of you being sick. Everyone at my house is praying for you to get well and feel like going outside to play. I know the nurses and doctors at the hospital are doing the very best they can to help you feel better. With a little help from Jesus, They'll do great! I wish we could come see you and your family. Please get well! Love Aunt Debbie and family

Max, we hope you start to feel a lot better soon! We are praying for you! My son Logan is 5 (just a bit older than you), and I know he would not want to have to sit in the hospital all day! We pray that Jesus will make you better so you can go back home with your family!

To Sam and Shannon: May God bring you peace, and complete healing to Max.

YO! MAD MAX!
I just wanted you to know that I will write you another funny poem and send it to you in the snail mail. But for today, here's what God is doing for you, boy:
I have seven sisters! No brothers! You are so lucky to have a big brother like Levi. My sisters are all older than me except one. So I wrote each sister and now there are seven more prayer warriors praying for you to get well and for your mom and dad to get some peace and for all of you to go home together. Now, seven sisters are a lot, especially when they share your story with their families, friends and churches. So little fella, we all lift you up to Jesus to heal you and make you feel better. We all love you; Roxie, Bobbie, Georgia, Sparky, Kathie, Mary, Me,Tracey(p.s. I'll get to sing with your dad on Sunday nights, Lord willin') and Kelly Jo, my baby sister. Have a terrific healing day today. Keep painting and singing. See ya soon. Oh yeah, I'll get to work on your new Mad Max poem and get it off to you today, wild boy!
Love, Tracey, Mikey and Biscuit Biscotti, from Ferndale, WA.

Jusitce is only 18 months and I could not imagine what you guys are going through. When he gets a bruise or a bump it hurts me. Remember god has a plan for everything and everything happens for a reason.

Good Morning Max!
You, your brother Levi, and your Mom & Dad have all been in our prayers continually this past week. What an adventure you're going through! The stories you'll be able to tell! The best part will be how God made His presence known to all of you through all this. He even sent you an ANGEL!!! It sounds like you are being a real 'trooper' through all this - way to go! Isn't it great how God helps us through tough times when we feel like we don't have the energy ourselves! Well, you all take care, moment by moment and remember, NOT SOMEHOW, BUT TRIUMPHANTLY!!! We love you, miss you, and looking forward to you all coming back home again!!

Hi Max!

I'm one of your Sunday Morning teachers and just heard about your adventure while I'm on vacation in Oregon. I know you are a real trooper and have a wonderful God looking over you. Remember when you came into Sunday school a couple of weeks ago and Levi didn't want to come into class? He was unhappy and you were brave and told him it would be fun. Levi finslly settled down and he DID have fun. You are a great brother and Levi must be fun to play with! Get better and I'll see you in Sunday school soon, okay buddy? I'm sending you a big hug by way of a special Angel. Sometimes Mommy and Daddy help angels out and they'll give you the hug for me. Maybe they'll sing our "Thank you Lord" song too. Don't forget my favorite part about the alligator! Love, Lori Gardner

Max,
I live in Logan Utah.

I also like to paint pictures. When I was your age I liked drawing cartoons and painting animals. I even saw that somewhere in Africa they teach elephants to paint pictures with their trunks!! Neat huh.

I think you must be one of the strongest kids on the planet and you have a pretty amazing family. Keep up the smiles and be brave big guy!

I'm praying for you!!!

Hey There Max!!!

I work in an office at my Moms home here in Bellingham with my Mom and cousin and we all go to Christ the King too! We haven't ever got to meet you but we met your dad and Grandma at church. We used to know some of your family in Texas!
We have your picture up on our screensavers and are thinking about you alot! You sure are a brave guy! We would love to see some of your paintings - maybe Mom or Dad could post some! I have three kids and two grandkids and my grandson and you look alot alike! You are bigger though - he's just two!
I'm attaching a picture of my puppy for you to see - he is so silly! He bounces everywhere like a kangaroo and turns his head sideways and looks like he's smiling!!! His name is Bigelow but we call him Biggers even though he is little!!!

Mom and Dad and family - We all love you and are praying for you all! I have been there with a child in an accident and subsequently in a coma. She is fine now but I am a little greyer now (well, not really thanks to Clairol)God Bless and take care of yourselves too!
