Tuesday, September 9, 2008 - THANKS

I just wanted to say thanks to three very special groups of people that have helped to flood this blog with messages and help us fill our son Max with hope.

First, to people at my home church - Christ the King Community Church in Bellingham, Washington. Thanks for being family.

Secondly, to my "second" church family, the people of DevelopingWorship. Through our forum in the past nine months, you've become family, and I look forward to what lies ahead for us as we look to seeing version 2.0 coming this month (yes, it's still coming).

Lastly but not least, thanks to the great folks at the Acoustic Guitar Forum. It's an online place for guitar geeks like me to hang out and talk about such things as tuner ratio's, tonewoods, and all the other stuff that guitar players like to talk about. You have been a part of my life for about seven years, and I appreciate times like these when guitars take a backseat to the real things of life.

Though there are many other groups of people that are contributing to this blog, I wanted to specifically thank these three groups. To the rest of you from the Porch, from various churches throughout the US (and abroad), and to those of you who are hearing about this through email and are joining in - thank you.

Today - Max is well enough to have a little attitude... If you're a parent, then you know what I mean when I say that it's nice to see a little slice of his normal morning grumpiness...

Thanks, everyone - please keep it up.

Hi Max,

You don't know me, but I have seen you at church many many times. In fact, my son Luke is probably in your class in Children's church. Know that God is with you in every room, every bed, every chair, EVERYWHERE at Children's hospital. You are abviously one very awesome little boy, just look at all of the people who have written to you and are praying for you. I can see you make a lot of people happy!! We will be praying for you in Ferndale and lood forward to seeing you running around the church halls again real soon.

To Mom and Dad, I can't imagine how you must be feeling right now. Hold dear to one another and the love of Christ. I am praying for you too - peace, wisdom, rest, assurance. Hang in there!

Hi Max!! We are good friends of your Aunt Jenny and Uncle Lee in Houston,TX. Our grandaughter, Piper, had ecoli when she was 6 weeks old. It did a lot of damage to her insides. She had surgury when she was 15 mos. old to repair the damage. Today she is 7. She is a friend of your cousin Molly Grace. She is fine. God is good! He took care of her and he will continue to take care of you!!! God bless you and your family. You all are in our prayers!! Love, Moo (that's what Piper and her sisters call me, and you can too!)

Sam,

Here is a hymn text that helped me immensely during my son's cranioplasty and hospital stay two years ago...May God grant you peace.

God moves in a mysterious way
His wonders to perform;
He plants His footsteps in the sea
And rides upon the storm.

Deep in unfathomable mines
Of never failing skill
He treasures up His bright designs
And works His sov’reign will.

Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take;
The clouds ye so much dread
Are big with mercy and shall break
In blessings on your head.

Judge not the Lord by feeble sense,
But trust Him for His grace;
Behind a frowning providence
He hides a smiling face.

His purposes will ripen fast,
Unfolding every hour;
The bud may have a bitter taste,
But sweet will be the flow’r.

Blind unbelief is sure to err
And scan His work in vain;
God is His own interpreter,
And He will make it plain.

Hi Max!

I want to come see you, but I can't drive yet. So I have to wait for my mom to bring me. Maybe this weekend. Can you eat icecream? I can bring some if it's ok.

I love you,

Cousin Chanse

Max, Shannon and Sam:
We have you on our prayer chains and pray a lot throughout the day, know God will heal you and you can be back to your ole self. Though we have never met you Max, we are concerned and just let the power of The Lord heal your body. Then you can eat all of the ice cream Chanse can get for you.
