Our Angel

Today we were blessed to have Marcy enter our life. She is a Child Life Specialist at Children's Hospital. Her job, and the job of many other CLS at children's, is to help the children deal with the realities of hospital life. She is trained to be the patients best friend at the hospital and to problem solve ways to make his stay better.

Let me tell you, Max LOVES her. She won his heart over in the first five minutes. She talked to him for a bit, and made a plan to come back later for painting (play therapy) She returned and they painted and talked for 30 minutes. They made another plan for tomarrow and Max is looking forward to her visit very much! She is also going to go with us to our first Kidney Dialysis appointment downstairs in the Dialysis department to help with Max's anxiety.

She is quite possibly our angel at children's that we'll get to see over and over again! I am SO happy for her support and I am thankful for her and all the others that do her job in Hospitals around the globe!

Hey Max!

My name is David Tomaloff. I'm a musician from Racine, Wisconsin. I'm wishing you much luck and hope you stay strong; I know you are in good hands. Sometimes bad things happen the best people and the really great ones always come out all the better for having gone through such a rough patch. Be well, Max, and stay strong in the meantime.

My niece sent me your blog (Kim Wallace) and I just read your story. I've taught several people working to be child life specialists and yes, they are angels and miracle workers. It will be a lifelong relationship. Our love and prayers go out to all of your family, and especially to Max. Karleen

Good morning Max!

I just heard about everything, and thought I might drop you a note. My name is Pat McGuire and like your father, I play guitar. I love to play in church and for anyone who will listen. I've read all about you, and truly wish you the very best. You have a nice smile; use it often OK? It actually helps you feel better. (And it helps your folks feel better too!)

Can we make a little deal? I'll say some prayers for you and your family, and I'll keep an eye on your progress. You keep smiling. How's that sound?

Good luck Max. Lots and LOTS of people are pulling (and praying) for you.

So good to see you smiling! And glad you got a wonderful friend to visit you. Really missed seeing you running up and down the church aisles Saturday night. It just wasn't the same without you and your brother running up to your dad. We miss your family and are praying for Jesus to give you a big kiss and hug and make you all better. Nikki Anderson

Hi Max!
We go to church with your grandparents in Texas. I have a little boy named Sam who had to be in the hospital for his asthma. I know it can be scary, but remember that God is there with you. Have you seen the Veggie Tales where Junior is scared? Bob and Larry remind Junior that God is bigger than the Boogie Man. My Sam likes to think of that when he is scared. God has his big arms wrapped around you to protect you. We are praying for you! We would would like to send you a new book to read in the hospital. Will you ask your dad to put your address on the blog so we could send you something?
Lots of love,
Wes, Tricia, Sam, and Micah Fikes
