Yesterday Max did not have dialysis. And, he was granted a pass to go to Red Robin for dinner to celebrate my Mom's birthday! He was the surprise!!! He had fun, but he tuckers out really quick.
This morning he had dialysis and is resting in preparation for some friends that are coming to visit. He is excited to see them, I just hope that he isn't to grumpy.
My biggest challenge is walking the fine line between understanding that his grumpiness is from feeling crummy, and allowing him to be disrespectful. He is flat out refusing to say Please or Thank you most of the time, and that is not allowed. So, we are seeing some of his true stuborness come out! All of the hospital staff say this is a normal part of the progress, and that I will at some point have to deal with it head on. They are leaving the timing of that up to me. Pray for me that I can be loving and compassionate as I am reminding him that he must be respectful.
Thanks for all your prayers, they continue to be a big source of encouragement!

Praying for your wisdom!
Dear Max and family,
We have been watching your progress from about day 2. We are always praying for you and excited that you are feeling better. Our daughter Keona (2 1/2 years) always asks us how "her Max" is doing. She likes to see your picture and know that you are okay. Keep your chin up and try to be kind, everyone is just trying to help you. You're doing awesome!
Love, the Luckhurst family
Hi Max
It sounds like you are getting better each day. It is hard for you to be sick, but it is also hard for Levi and Mom and Dad to watch you be sick. So maybe you could give them a little extra hug or an extra thank you to help them. They love you so much!
God bless you all family during this difficult time.
Hugs, Terri and Charles Phillips
Sam,
I will pray for you regarding the fine line between the respect Max needs to have for others and the understandable frustration he feels from being stuck in a hospital and all the suffering he has endured.
My advise is to ask Charlie, he has great wisdom and will know how to advise you.
We continue to keep you in our prayers.
Love Mark and Sue
Glad to hear that Max is grumpy! It will be a challenge getting him to mind his manners, but for all that he has and continues to go through, it can be expected. Blessings to you all and we will continue to watch, pray and celebrate Max's journey back to health - Aloha,
Henderson, Elaine and Kainalu

Max...be good, and listen to your mom and dad!
We're all so happy that you're beginning to feel better, and we can understand why you're feeling grumpy. Still, it's important to be respectful, and to respect the docs and nurses, your elders and your mom and dad.
Hope tomorrow brings more improvement!
Dave from Ottawa, Canada.
Max! I'm glad to hear things are turning for the better. I hope you had fun at Red Robin. Keep getting better. We are praying for you in Louisville. Tell mom and dad hello.

Hi Max,
I'm very happy to read about your improved health! You have worked very hard with your family and ALL the medical people to fight your sickness. CONGRATULATIONS, you are a tough guy! Remember how important your family and friends are and how much they love you. Please love them back and be kind to everyone around you. Kindness and love are the gifts that really strong people have and share. You are one of the strong people, Max!

Hey Max!
Sounds like things are looking up! You are one lucky dude - all these people all over the world thinking about you, and the world's best family taking care of you every day. You should give them all a big hug and a kiss!
Stay strong, brother!
