The Cops Came!

Many, many thanks to Mark in Louisville, Kentucky. Mark is a detective on the police force there, and though he and I have never met, we have a common love for acoustic guitars, and are members of the Acoustic Guitar Forum.

Mark contacted me and asked me if it would be okay if he arranged for a visit from a few police officers - and boy, did he come through in style - the Assistant Chief!

The assistant chief and another officer from the University of Washington Police Department came and brought Max all kinds of gifts and things to play with. He even got his own badge and official police patch!

After a what I can only describe as a tortuous time of bandage removal from his dialysis tubing, this was JUST what he needed to cheer him up.

Here is the happy group - look at that big smile on Max's face!

On another note, Max's numbers took a slight turn for the better today - please pray that this would be a trend!

Thanks, Mark, for making this happen, and thanks to the UWPD for taking the time to make my kid's day!

Hiya Max!

I was just checking in and found out you had quite an exciting day! My older brother is a retired police detective, and I love it when people like you get to see how great cops can be! I'm so pleased you had a good visit with them. It was also super to see you riding in the park, and even better to see you smile. I'm still praying every day for you, and I'm pleased to see that you are acting more like your old self. Keep smiling kiddo. Tell your folks I said "Hi."

Hi Max,
The police are after you? Boy, you better start behaving! :-) Glad they came to see you, and that you're being brave.

Earlier this week, I was on vacation with members of my family. One of them is Betty. She's a missionary in Rwanda, East Africa. That's on the other side of the world from you! She and the rest of my family prayed for you go get better, and for God to give you and your family courage and even joy! God can do that, even when it doesn't make much ordinary sense.

Ever heard of Rwanda? That's where mountain gorillas live, those big, black furry apes that are almost like humans. They love and take care of their children, just like your Mom and Dad love and take care of you. Maybe Dad can find a book about gorillas for you. They're some of God's best animals, though he loves them all. He loves YOU, Max, even more than He loves gorillas!

(Sam, send me an address, will you? Maybe I can find a gorilla book Max would enjoy.)

Boy, when the cops came to see my son, I was the one not feeling too good!
You look like you may be feeling a bit better - keep up the good work. By the way, when you smile and joke, you make EVERYBODY feel better!

Hi Max, I just wanted to say that I am thinking about you and praying for you over here in Itu, Brazil. It is a city near São Paulo Brazil. I am down here working as a missionary intern and many of my friends back at Impact in Houston, Texas told me about you. I hope that you have a beautiful day and know that someone in Brazil is praying for you. Deus abencoe você! ( God Bless you), Amanda Scott

Hi Max!

A big virtual hug is coming your way from over here in the UK.

Have you ever seen a picture of a British Policeman? His helmet is very different to the ones the American cops wear. They make them look even taller so I suppose that helps to frighten the baddies!
Hope you're soon feeling much better and back to your old self. :-D
