At Grandma's House

Max was released from the hospital late on Thursday. We didn't get to my Mom's house until after 9. But we made it!

Friday was a great day. We spent the morning together as a family, and then Levi and I ran errands together while Daddy and Max curled up on the sofa for a movie. In the evening Levi and Sam left for some Father-Son time, and Max decided that Grandma, he, and I should make a raspberry pie with the raspberries that are growing in Grandma's backyard. He convinced us that this was a good plan! Then he picked the berries, washed the berries, helped with the crust, the mixing of the berries and the topping. He then waited on the sofa for it to bake. It was the most energy I have seen out of him since this started. He was ready for bed as soon as the pie made it into the oven, but he had made that pie.

When we got up this morning, we discovered that Max's pullup was significantly wet. We took it with us to the hospital today to measure it. It was 240 cc!!! That is double his urine output from Thursday.

And then tonight, after dialysis, which typically removes a lot of the body's fluid and decreases the urine for that day, he needed to pee for the first time!! This is really good stuff. The doctors want his pee to double everyday until it matches his intake of fluid. They will begin to talk about when to end dialysis after he has reached 1000 cc consistantly, with urine that is clearing his blood of the toxins. We are making progress in this direction!

It will take over a month for his red blood cells to be back in the normal ranges, so his tiredness will continue for a long time. But, his bursts of energy are fun, and encouraging.

Thanks for all your prayers, they give his so much encouragement!
Shannon

We are so encouraged that Max has left hospital and is continuing to improve, but we know he still has a ways to go and will continue to pray for him throughout each day. Seeing God's hand in Max's journey has stengthened my faith in His power and the power of prayer.

Sam and Shannon we are also praying for you because we know you are going to need alot of strength and help taking care of not only Max but everything else that demands your time. Both of you have given so much to others and this is your time to be taken care of.
